This week, I had the pleasure of welcoming Andreas Hohmann, the state director of the CDU’s Economic Council.
In order to enable companies to help shape economic and social policy, none other than the father of the social market economy, Ludwig Erhardt, once founded the CDU’s Economic Council.
Ludwig Erhardt’s social market economy led Germany to prosperity. Many of the things we take for granted today, such as education, health care and social participation, are fruits of the economic strength that resulted from it.
As a business association with around 12,500 members, the Economic Council sees itself as the voice of the social market economy in the sense of Ludwig Erhard, in order to bring more business expertise into politics.
